Daisy Girl Scout Troop 3739
We are a new Daisy troop (for kindergarten and first-grade girls in the 2023-2024 school year) in the greater Iowa City area (with girls currently attending public/private schools in North Liberty, Coralville, and Iowa City). We started meeting in summer 2023 and have been focusing as a troop on learning the Girl Scout Promise/Law and STEAM-related badges. We also encourage (for those interested) to work on faith-related activities (e.g., the My Promise, My Faith pin) as individual families (completely optional and NOT required). Registering your girl as a member is required to participate, but we also encourage parents to also register as volunteers. Once you join, please ask to also be invited to our Facebook page for parents/caregivers.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often does the troop meet?
We meet approximately once a month (on Sunday afternoons).
Do I have to attend every meeting?
You are not required to attend all of the meetings (and conflicts are expected). We will provide a summary of what we plan to do at every meeting and it should be possible to make-up anything on your own that you may have missed. (If you do know in advance you will need to miss some of the meetings, it would be helpful to let us know for planning purposes.)
Can parents attend the meetings?
Parents are allowed to attend the meetings designated as family meetings, but only registered volunteers should regularly attend the troop meetings. We highly encourage/welcome parent volunteers (even if you cannot help out at each meeting), for those willing to register.
If I register as a volunteer, am I required to attend all of the meetings?
No. You can register as a volunteer and help out as little or as much as you would like. We do require two registered non-related volunteers (at least one female) to attend each meeting for troops of up to 12 girls. Thus, even registering to be a "back-up" leader in case one of the "regular" leaders gets sick or cannot attend at the last minute would be very helpful.
Can we work on badges/journeys on our own?
Yes, you are welcome to also work on badges on your own. We will provide some recommended options of things that you can do as a family that we do not plan on completing as an entire troop to help you get started, if interested.
Does it cost anything to participate?
The regular year-long membership to be a Girl Scout is $25. The Girl Scout membership fee does not go back to our troop, so we also request each girl provide $25/year in troop dues (as you are willing/able) to cover some of the expenses for October 2023 - September 2024. Girls will also purchase their own uniforms, membership pins, and petal sets. We will purchase the materials/supplies, membership discs/stars, and any badges or fun patches earned during troop meetings. Any additional badges earned individually will be the responsibility of each individual girl's family.
Is participating in the Fall Product Program or Girl Scout Cookie Program required?
While the troop encourages participation in both programs (to the extent that families think participation would benefit their girl), participation is completely optional. We encourage girls to set small/realistic goals.
How do I join?
